Leonardo Velasco: “Prisons are like the world’s garbage dump, and I was trash. Only Jesus came in and made me into something new. Jesus recycled my life!”
Leonardo, a student in the On the Road to Freedom Program for a year, has used his knowledge to reshape his future and positively impact his prison environment. His caricatures have become a powerful artistic tool, offering an insider’s perspective on prison life—an effort recognized by INPEC at a regional level. Today, Leonardo serves as an agent of rehabilitation for his fellow inmates.
“I realized that evil is the absence of God. Hard and difficult situations aren’t always the worst; they are opportunities to change the course of our lives.” .Jazmín P.
At El Buen Pastor Women’s Prison, our program has had a profound impact. For two years, women from Pavilions 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8 have gathered to attend our courses and seminars. They have deeply reflected on the factors that led them to incarceration and are now committed to accepting responsibility for their past while working toward a better future.
With a contribution of $30,000 COP or more per month for 12 months, you enable more incarcerated individuals to participate in the On the Road to Freedom Program.
Help restore lives through our Biblical Theology, Psychology, and Art courses and seminars. Your one-time donation makes a lasting difference.
If you would like to donate hygiene kits or educational materials for incarcerated students, contact us for more details.
